About XSEDE

The Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) is the most advanced, powerful, and robust collection of integrated advanced digital resources and services in the world. Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), it is a single virtual system that scientists can use to interactively share computing resources, data, and expertise. Scientists and engineers around the world utilize these resources and services— things like supercomputers, collections of data, and new tools, to make lives healthier, safer, and better. XSEDE, and the experts who lead the program, make these resources easier to use and help more people use them. For more information, visit www.xsede.org

NSF is funding this program since more than 10 years (earlier, it was Teragrid) through the Office of Cyberinfrastructure (OCI; www.nsf.gov/od/oci/about.jsp). AKD served as a Campus Champion for the National University (see more on Campus Champion Program at XSEDE web site), and now serving as the reviewer for its annual event (PEARC17) in this year. Computer Science/Software Engineering students are encouraged to visit this and the site of the HPC University, which is a virtual organization with a primary goal of providing a cohesive, persistent, and sustainable on-line environment to share educational and training materials for a continuum of high performance computing environments that span desktop computing capabilities to the highest-end of computing facilities offered by HPC centers.
